Drama

Our aim is to develop our students’ engagement with the world of drama, theatre and the performing arts, encouraging skills of creativity, collaboration and confidence. Drama education at Christ the King College aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be creative and collaborative individuals, in line with Christ the King’s core Gospel values. We want our students to appreciate the myriad possibilities and opportunities that theatre-making and performance can offer, not just in terms of performance but also through shared experiences, teamwork, reflection and confidence building. Through our sequences of learning, students will build their repertoire of performance skills and techniques and explore a range of theatrical experiences to help build their confidence and collaboration.

Literacy and Numeracy in Drama

There are frequent opportunities in every Drama lesson to develop literacy skills through speaking and listening. Studying scripts in every year group supports reading and understanding meaning.

Numeracy skills are utilised in GCSE and A Level Drama courses when exploring lighting and sound. Numeracy skills are taught using the whole-college, cross-curricular numeracy framework.
