Health & CD
From Year 10, students can choose BTEC Level 2 Health and Social care or BTEC Level 2 Child Development, with the option in Year 12 to progress onto Level 3 Health and Social care.
Within Health and Social care Level 2 and 3, the focus is on preparing students for working in the Health and Social care sector. Students will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of how people develop from “Cradle to Grave” and factors that can impact on this. Students will also learn about Core skills needed to be effective Health and Social care practitioners and the role that relevant legislation can have on this.
Level 2 Child Development is a vocational course designed for those interested in working with children from birth to around eight years old. It equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to care for children, support their learning through play, and create safe and stimulating environments.
Literacy and Numeracy in Health & CD
Literacy is crucial in Health and social care and Child Development for understanding care plans, medication instructions, and communicating effectively with patients and colleagues. Numeracy is also essential, as it's needed for accurate medication dosages, record-keeping, and navigating healthcare data, such as blood pressure readings.
